The Parade of Planets

It was a busy week on the roof, lots of visible planets so we decided to do some imaging:-

Jupiter 26th Feb 2025

Same in black and white.

Jupiter 28th Feb 2025, seeing was a bit worse (wobbly atmosphere due to wind)

Mars with polar ice cap “clearly” visible

Venus, data processed by student Marta

Now this is Mercury. It’s hard because its small, and its close to the horizon, which means more airmass, and more wobbling. This is probably not the best that could ever be done from central London, but it’s the best we managed this week.

And this is Uranus. Yes it’s not very good. Now the colour is more green than it should have been but it was visibly turquoise in the eyepiece. I think we could improve this more than Mercury, but the conditions were not perfect.
